J.D. Carteret bio

As a Melbourne-based choreographer and performer, J.D. Carteret has shared a stage with, and created routines for, the best in the business. His unique approach to new skool Hip Hop as a lyrical, sophisticated and thought-provoking art form was showcased on the ridiculously successful reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance Australia, where he made Top 12 and got to crash some pretty sweet parties. J.D. has been teaching for ten years, both Australia-wide and in Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Vegas, Los Angeles and Taiwan. His teaching philosophy emphasizes both empowerment and straight up fun, and incorporates an in-depth understanding of Hip Hop’s history. He’s also the founder of the Dance2XS Australian Branch in Melbourne, the Artistic Director of Kulture Break and established the dance faculty at the Melbourne Music Academy. Following a role in the children’s television program Ocean Girl as a teenager, J.D. is continuing his interest in screen acting through work as a TV presenter. An all-round creative guy and part of the new breed of dancers currently pushing boundaries and re-imagining old ideas, J.D. also likes large bowls of pasta and small fiddly gadgets.

About Georgia

I'm a young adult novelist with a weakness for hot nerds and cheese platters, not necessarily in that order. I am currently working on my third novel. I'm pretty excited about having just turned 30 because it means I can justify spending a lot of time thinking about homewares.
