Together Forever?

Will you be Bella to your boy’s Edward?

“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…”

Bella and Edward. The modern day Romeo and Juliet didn’t just create a craze for the totally hot if stone-cold undead, they were also flying the flag for True Love. If that’s how you’re feeling about your current boy, you may well be asking yourself – are you meant to be together… forever? Hey, Edward and Bella got married and he was a freakin’ vampire!

Edward: “Before you, my life was like a moonless night. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire.”

But before you start getting starry-eyed with the lad who lights up your life, think about what ‘forever’ is.

Forever is never kissing anyone else. Ever. No, not even Robert Pattison.

Forever is making sacrifices. What if you want to move to New York after school and he never wants to leave his hometown?

Forever is going to feel different as your relationship changes and evolves.

Science peeps have proven that the ‘honeymoon’ stage of love (basically what Edward and Bella are constantly in) lasts a max of two years. Then giddy highs and full-on make-out sessions slip into something a little more comfortable. There’s nothing wrong with being whole-heartedly committed to your beau, we just reckon it’s important to take things one day at a time. After all, you may get so caught up in making plans for the future you forget to simply savor the present.

The average age people are getting married these days continues to fall, as does the age women have babies. There’s certainly no social pressure for you and your sweetie to stay together like in the olden days (ie. like your Nana and Pop). We’re lucky to live in an age where basically, it’s okay to try before you buy! Dating a variety of guys or even girls before you decide on The One is a way for you to work out who you are and what you’re about. Even if things don’t work out with everyone you date, if you treat them with respect and care, they may end up being some of your closest friends (like Jerrry and Elaine).

And if you still need convincing that making the commitment to forever is something worth waiting for, we’ve just got two words for you: Britney Spears. (First wedding clocked in at 55 hours. Ouchies)

Love is hard, and celeb love is even harder. Imagine juggling a white-hot career, legions of fans, cool filming commitments, private jets to tropical islands… uh, actually maybe it’s not so hard after all. Zanessa have dodged various slips and scandals to remain happy in love. There are even wedding rumours circling on the interweb. Swoon!

Are you dating a long-haul lover (or a vampire)?

  • Does an electric shock run through your body at his every touch?
  • Is every moment spent together both perfect yet tragic?
  • Have you ever danced together in a gazebo?
  • Does his pale skin sparkle like diamonds in the sun?
  • Would you describe him as glorious and agonized?

If you answered yes to most of these, we recommend checking your BF’s pulse!

About Georgia

I'm a young adult novelist with a weakness for hot nerds and cheese platters, not necessarily in that order. I am currently working on my third novel. I'm pretty excited about having just turned 30 because it means I can justify spending a lot of time thinking about homewares.
